Founder Bright Bear Advocacy Co
I'm Dr. Sara Simmons, a school psychologist with a Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. For over 12 years, I’ve supported students, families, and schools across the Denver metro area—helping teams navigate the special education and 504 process with clarity and care.
I founded Bright Bear Advocacy Co. to provide families with expert guidance through what can often feel like an overwhelming and confusing system. Whether you're seeking an IEP, a 504 plan, or trying to understand your child’s educational rights, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
In addition to my advocacy work, I continue to serve as a practicing school psychologist in several schools across Colorado. This allows me to stay closely connected to current practices, policies, and school-based teams—insight I bring directly into my advocacy work.
Outside of work, I’m a parent too and I know firsthand how confusing and emotional the education system can feel. My work is grounded in empathy, and I approach every case with the care I’d want for my own child.
When you work with Bright Bear Advocacy, you’re not just getting someone who knows the system you’re getting a trusted partner who will advocate for your child as if they were my own. My approach is grounded in collaboration, compassion, and a deep belief that every student deserves the support they need to thrive.
Bright Bear Advocacy Co. is based in Colorado and proudly supports families statewide.
